October 16 2007 Mrs. Willoghby’s English 1H class

Today in Mrs. Willoughby’s English 1H class we took the chapter 2 vocabulary test. everyone got pretty descent grades (^.^). then we went over chapter 3 vocabulary and were told that we are going to have our oral chapter 2 test tomorrow so study study study=). and that was all for today.make sure you study=D

Okay. This is from me-the teacher. Hugo in sixth period was supposed to do the blog but he didn’t. Today in class, we were divided into groups and made a poster using the SIFT method on chapter 2 in The Pearl. Each group had to fill out the chart with passages and examples of Symbol, Imagery, Figurative Language, and Tone and Theme. They also had to draw a picture of the symbol they chose from the chapter. We then presented our posters to the class. Tomorrow we have a vocabulary quiz on Chapter 2.

We read each other’s stories and corrected each other’s grammatical errors

Danielle’s phone went off in class

Vivek made fun of me and my mother lol

We read Chapter 2 of The Pearl by John Steinbeck and annotated each passage accordingly

Hi kids! Today we finished the oral quiz on chapter 1. In period 6, we got a bit further and we went through the vocabulary words for chapter 2. Tomorrow I won’t be there because I am trying to recover from my cold that I can’t seem to get rid of. In fact, I had another coughing attack in period 6 today. Yesterday Sulma had to run and get me a water. Bless her! So you should be watching a movie on Helen of Troy or The Odyssey. Take notes and I will see you on Thursday.

Creative vocabulary stories will be due on Friday this week!

3. got back our creative stories and discussed some of the errors people made
4. talked about the vocabulary quiz tomorrow
5. finished reading chapter 1 of The Pearl and analyzed it
6. talked about the oral quiz on Monday
7. got back the lit term crossword puzzle and “Hunger” worksheet

Hi,

Kevin in my 6th period has let me/us down! No notes? Nothing? Well, if you forgot, we read more of The Pearl today and we analyzed a bit. We also got our essays back. Hugo Ramos had the best grade of a 4 out of 5. We also read silently today for about 10 minutes. The students tried to get me to agree to 15 minutes, which would have left us about 5 minutes of class time. The homework is to finish the Sensory Language Charts.

Just a reminder that there is a field trip set for 10/25 (that’s this month).It is for the Getty Villa in Malibu. We are departing at 7:45 am and returning at 2:30 pm. So far only two of my students are going. The cost is $10. I hope you will consider attending since its a great day out with the class and we don’t get too many field trips in high school.
